Not your lucky year! You’ll have to take a day off to enjoy Valentine’s Day with your crush. In any case, and for those who are #chopatate, here are some ideas to make your partner’s heart skip a beat. You don’t need to spend a lot of money. The essential thing is to celebrate LOVE by pleasing each other while enjoying yourselves.
Valentine’s Day: Too Commercialized?
This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a BIG MONDAY. Unfortunately for those who work, you’ll need to take a day off if you want to enjoy the entire day. Let’s detach ourselves a bit from the commercial vision too often associated with this celebration of love and enjoy the moment.
The current situation is complicated enough without seeing evil everywhere. Even if it were a “commercial” holiday, we still have to spend to make our loved ones happy. Besides, almost everything is paid for nowadays, including our freedom. It’s entirely possible to create a #wow effect, #myheartbeatsfast, #thumpthump, in the eyes of your loved one, even on a small budget.
By the way, do you still have water or not? Well then! Let’s not focus on the negative and instead concentrate on the time spent together.
Let’s go over the key points for a memorable day.
How to add some sparkle to your life on February 14th?
We asked Kevin* the question. In order for a successful Valentine’s Day, three elements, or even four for the more adventurous, must come together.

Sak vid paka tjenbé doubout
A Valentine’s Day without food and drink is like a communion without chocolate butter bread. The #labouffelavie team, rise up!
Love appeals to all the senses… and so does food. Make your soulmate salivate with a good meal, whether it is prepared by you or by a professional. Hot or cold, sweet or savory, hearty or light, awaken your senses and theirs during this tasting.
Which format to choose?
A breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, it all depends on your current desires and daily constraints. If you are not opposed to the obligatory stop at the pharmacy or laboratory, a restaurant is a great first choice. Choose an address that breaks the routine, that you have never tried before for example; discovering together is great.
Are you against destroying your nasal passages? No problem. Other options are available to you. You can pick up your take-out meals or contact a caterer who will deliver to your desired location.
Are you good at cooking? That’s just as good. This more intimate option offers you a wide range of possibilities. Use your wildest imagination so that this moment leaves your other half speechless.
Where are we going, darling?
Regardless of the defined location, still prioritize a pleasant and peaceful setting.
The advantage of being on an island is its many natural spots. Take advantage of the calmness on this #bigmonday to settle on a beach, a cove, near a river, or any other small piece of paradise. Change the air and listen to nature: the lapping of the water, the sun on your skin, the breath of the wind in your hair, the salty air tickling your nostrils, the spectacle of Mr. Sun setting on the horizon… The goal here is to create a true sensory experience.
A gift or the cherry on top
Now that Mr. or Mrs. has enjoyed themselves, let’s move on to the next step, if there is one. If we want to erase the commercial aspect of this event, the gift should be a choice and not an obligation. Giving is above all about pleasing the other person, showing our appreciation, and thanking them. Again, you don’t need to spend a lot of money. It’s all about the little gesture, the one that will make the other person feel UNIQUE in your eyes. You know your partner better than anyone else, so we’ll give you a free hand.
Shall we indulge in a little treat, just the two of us?
Sharing with others is good, but doing it together is even better. A walk, a massage, a water, art, or wellness activity… There are plenty of choices in Martinique.
The pleasure will be multiplied because you will do it together. No need for the other person to tell you about their experience, you will share a moment, memories, sensations together, which will strengthen your bonds, your complicity, and your intimacy.
The small advice from Yémy.
Yéméla, better known as Yémy, is a talented ‘Mampreneur’ from Le Marin. As the founder of Yémy Caribbean Party, she needs no introduction. In a short amount of time, she has made a name for herself in the events industry, with a packed client portfolio that includes influencers and Caribbean artists, among others, who call upon her festive services. She has also worked on several set designs, including in the music video for L’Amour et la Passion by Fanny J and the latest one by Jean-François Pondézi, Mi Luv U.
Yémy, we give you the floor to discuss Valentine’s Day, as you create your events with LOVE and PASSION.
Yémy, we give you the floor.
What advice could you give us for organizing an excellent Valentine’s Day in Martinique?
The first advice I could give would perhaps be to go through Yémy, to call Yémy [laughs]. By calling Yémy, it would simply be a matter of explaining what you want, giving your budget and Yémy would take care of everything.
What option do you have in mind given the current situation?
In Martinique for Valentine’s Day, with the restrictions we currently have, a small dinner at home. A candlelit dinner, if possible as a surprise, would be really perfect.
In terms of decoration, since it’s your field, what would you recommend?
A beautiful table setting with a small white tablecloth, nice plates with smaller plates inside, and small rose petals or other flower petals that can be found along the roadside would be great for decoration. Bougainvilleas are also a good option as they are reddish. You could also purchase a few small balloons. Renting a small inflatable jacuzzi for the evening could also be a nice touch.
Thank you Yémy for this joy of life and for the “love”.
As you may have understood, making someone happy doesn’t necessarily mean spending a lot of money. It’s all about finding the right balance, being creative and taking the initiative. In these challenging times, a cozy evening at home with some koko (coconut water mixed with rum) wouldn’t hurt. Indulgence and pleasure are the keywords for this Valentine’s Day. I won’t say more. 😉
