On Saturday, October 1st, the Pink Run 2022 took place, which inaugurated the 29th edition of 🎀PINK OCTOBER🎀. Throughout this international campaign, events and activities are held to support research and raise awareness for early breast cancer detection. Every year in October, thousands of people mobilize to fight against breast cancer. Pink October is an opportunity to highlight the importance of screening and early detection. The Pink Run is just one of the many events that take place during this month to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
One month to raise awareness for screening, that’s the goal of the 🎀PINK OCTOBER🎀 campaign.
The Pink Run is organized by the Amazones association (as part of the health event of the city of Fort-de-France), whose goal is to inform and raise awareness among as many people as possible about the issues that women face in our regions, develop friendly places of reception, complementary care activities, defend women’s rights and those of their families.
I loved this moment of solidarity that I wish to share.
My experience of the Pink Run 2022
After scanning my ticket purchased on the website the day before the event, I was able to collect my pack containing :
- a pink bag, of course
- a water bottle
- a “Sister Hood” cup
- an Amazones t-shirt”
We love it 🤩! I don’t know about you, but I’m an unconditional fan of goodies.
The meeting was scheduled from 2 pm on the Malecon.
The atmosphere is festive and the audience is smiling, with a majority of women, a few rare men, and children. Yes, gentlemen, the Pink Run is not exclusively reserved for women, you can participate too.
I visited the different stands of various associations, such as Ma Tété created by the bubbly Nathalie Chillan, the Sein’gulière Association where I saw information flyers, t-shirts, jewelry… as well as a magnificent exhibition of photographs of women’s breasts that I particularly enjoyed.
I learned on the morning of the race that there would be powder during the course, so I brought my famous glasses masks aka windshields that served me well.
We walk happily to the rhythm of the Snapchat carnival group that sets the mood in a carnival atmosphere. The faces are smiling and happy. The pace is a bit fast, but easy to follow for the non-sporty person that I am. I admit that I was a little tired towards the end of the course (note to self: resume physical activity).
We are welcomed at the finish point by a flurry of pink powder that gives me energy. I found this moment truly magical! ✨
La Pink Run, a fun and solidarity race
It was a beautiful moment of solidarity because we are all involved.
Participating in the Pink Run is a way to remind people of the seriousness of breast cancer and to raise awareness among women about the importance of screening while having fun; in addition to being a solidarity race, it is a fun race. You don’t need to be an experienced athlete to participate. You can run, walk, or even do it on rollerblades at your own pace.
Note for last-minute specialists of buying tickets, you know who you are, it is possible to register on site. However, we recommend registering online.
So no excuses, put on your sneakers for the Pink Run 2023 Don’t say you didn’t know! I’ll be there! Unless something unexpected happens.
Here are some recommendations:
Get your ticket online to save time on the Amazones website Bring goggles to avoid powder in your eyes Come with your team, friends, family, and allies; you know the saying, the more the merrier… As a bonus, you can enhance your outfit with Woz jewelry or accessories. woz .
