March is known for celebrating women, this reed, this “potomitan” that bends in the face of difficulties but never breaks, compared to the mighty oak tree with its strong and imposing appearance. Sorry gentlemen, but this article is dedicated to the Venus Empire, don’t be jealous. After the tumult and crazy atmosphere of carnival, it’s time for Lent. It’s time to take a moment for yourself, a moment of well-being, just for you. It’s perfect timing, as I have tested the Lucy D’Tea concept for you, a unique concept in Martinique created by a multi-talented woman.
My experience at Lucy D’Tea
Many people use hashtags like #yolo, #lifeisshort, #lifeisabitch… but are they really taking advantage of life, of the source of life that is offered to us?
For several years now, I have been advocating a philosophy of life that prioritizes myself, my own well-being, and my own desires. Said like that, it may seem selfish. But believe me, it pleases me and it suits me. In fact, thinking about oneself and enjoying oneself, I call it positive selfishness.
Let’s get back on track. I chose Lucy D’Tea because it fits with my vision of life. Sometimes, we have to let go, break out of our routine and truly enjoy ourselves through the simplest things in life.
A professionalism from the first contact
Nothing is set in stone at Lucy D’Tea. I was hesitating between several options, and Lucie was able to adapt her program to my needs. The exchanges over the phone were smooth and very clear, both in terms of explanations and pricing.
The program included a brunch prepared by Lucie, a tea tasting throughout the session, and massages. Since there were four of us, we had the chance to enjoy the private facilities. Two of us chose the Balinese massage, while the other two opted for the aerial massage in the hammock. 😍 I wanted to try something new, so I chose the one that intrigued me the most.
Disconnection from the first steps
Quiet neighborhood in Fort-de-France – because yes it exists in the Capital – in a light pink house already announcing the color… this is where everything happens. As soon as the door is opened, there is a visual shock, the time pause has already begun. Despite her mask, Lucie is very smiling and welcoming, it can be read in her eyes. We enter timidly, eyes fixed on the very zen, very cocooning decoration. Hammocks, we see hammocks, but not only! 😍 I catch a glimpse of the massage table in the distance, the jacuzzi, I’m ready to enjoy the place. Lucie suggests exchanging our shoes for sandals provided for better comfort. I should mention that the sandals are disinfected after each use. I see what you’re thinking, huh! 😏 The visit continues, we leave our personal belongings in a room and one by one we take a shower. A homemade sugar scrub session for everyone before putting on our swimsuits and settling into the jacuzzi. The last step before enjoying the bubbles, a small basin at the entrance of the jacuzzi awaits us, composed of foliage from the garden, for the feet.
Time for relaxation. I won’t hide it, we were already hungry #lateammorfaleaucomplet. While waiting for the brunch to arrive, we started with a tea tasting from the jacuzzi. Milan, photos, and eyes scrutinizing the decor, we had a great time together. The moment we all waited for arrived, FOOD 😋😁.
Lucie arrived with a huge floating tray filled with sweet and savory treats. No more moving in the jacuzzi, it was time for tasting. She presented us with the different dishes and then left. At this point, as is often the case, no one speaks anymore. 🤤 We stayed in the water for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, if not more.
Once our taste buds were satisfied, it was time for massages. One after the other, we let ourselves be carried away through Lucy’s hands. She first took care of the Balinese massages, then the massages in the hammock. While waiting for our turn, we settled into the various hammocks at our disposal. Sitting or lying down, we had a choice.
I let my loved ones go first and now it’s my privileged moment. I settle in, Lucie starts with relaxation through breathing, so that I am as relaxed as possible. It’s a bit like when you are given oxygen or I don’t know what gas before general anesthesia. At the end of the session, and to tie the loop, there is another part dedicated to breathing, which helps to come back down from your little cloud.
The hammock massage is interesting for several reasons. Its aerial format, where one feels light. In fact, Lucie managed to lift me up with her hands during this session. Its diversity, some parts of the body are massaged skin to skin – like the legs, neck, head – while others – like the back – are massaged through the fabric of the hammock.
My experience at Lucy D’Tea is very complete because my 5 senses have been involved. Sight 👀, the decor is beautiful, everything is well arranged, the materials are different, there is lightness everywhere in the space. Hearing 👂🏽, besides the music during the massages, and not counting the different chimes present, we could hear the birds singing. Taste 👅, that of the tea that we had to try to detect but also that of the floating tray. Smell 👃🏽, through the flavors but also the scent of the scrub on the skin and the oil intended for massages. And touch 💆
Lucy D’Tea, or rather Lucie in person
Lucy D’Tea, or rather Lucie in person Portrait de la créatrice de Lucy D'Tea We thank you once again for this exchange and wish you a good end of the day.
The interview with Lucie reassures me in my life choices. The various lockdowns we have had to accept in the last two years, not to mention the current environment and context in which we live, remind us of essential needs and our inner selves. Lent is a beautiful time to focus on oneself, but not only that. This initiative should not be a trend but rather a way of life.
I wish you all to rediscover yourselves and put yourselves forward, whether you are a woman or a man.
See you soon.
