Here comes the much-awaited period for our dear children, which can become a real puzzle for some parents. How to keep our children occupied without breaking the bank (too much) ? All I can say is that there is plenty to do in Martinique. Don’t panic, I have selected a few activities that will delight both children and adults !
1. Amusement parks: a safe bet
2. Cultural activities
The association Dinamik Jenn Matnik offers a school and cultural caravan from August 16th to 19th at the Émilie Fordant school, from CE2 to high school. For the modest sum of 50€ per week, here is the program: from 8am to 1pm, morning classes and from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, cultural activities. For more information, call 0696 35 07 10.
Otherwise, it’s also a good time to take them to the museum. I recommend the Banana Museum in Sainte-Marie or the Shell Museum in Trois-Îlets.
3. Sports activities
In Schoelcher, the Sports Department has set up Sports Discovery Mornings for teens aged 11 to 15. The program includes activities such as sea rescue, pool activities, hiking, yole, beach sports, and handball. The cost is 12€ per day without meals and 15€ with meals included. For more information, call 0596 61 01 58 or 0696 23 10 74.
The city of Fort-de-France, on the other hand, offers sports activities for the whole family from July 18th to 29th. The meeting point is at the Savane and on the beach of La Française. For more information, call 0595 39 31 02.
4. Digital Creative Workshops
From July 11th to August 5th, Parallel 14 school is organizing new playful, educational, and digital creative workshops for 10-17 year olds.
More information is available on their Facebook page.
5. Doing crafts at home is loved by both little and big kids !
You can find creative tutorials on Pinterest if you need ideas
6. Playing games with the family while learning about Martinique
With Sabine Andrivon-Milton’s Games, including puzzles, board games, party games, and card games, you’ll have plenty of options! You can get them at bookstores or on the website.
7. For little and big foodies
Aunt Maryse offers 8 easy-to-make recipes with children, as young as 3 years old. Don’t deprive yourself of these moments of gourmet complicity appreciated by both parents and children !
8. (Strictly) do nothing !
And if during these holidays, we also learned to do nothing, to decompress, to sleep without setting an alarm, to let go without guilt. Slowing down has become vital, so take time for yourself as a family and enjoy your children.
I wish you an excellent family vacation in Martinique !
