The best viewpoints in the north of the island
Trinité Battery
In the municipality of Trinité, there is a somewhat secluded area called Tartane, set apart from the town and its attractions. Known for its many beaches and fishermen, Tartane offers a rather exotic setting compared to the rest of the municipality, immersing visitors in a timeless bubble of peace and communion with nature.
The main attraction in this part of the municipality is the Caravelle peninsula and its lighthouse. There is also a large nature reserve for marine animals, birds, and plants, as well as a beach called Baie des Trésors, highly appreciated by hikers who have traversed the trails of this small piece of land.
This magnificent landscape can be admired along the road leading to Tartane from the town of Trinité. But a specific spot, the "Point de vue de la Batterie" (Battery Viewpoint), allows you to admire the Caravelle peninsula as well as the splendid neighboring town of Sainte-Marie and its Tombolo.
On this spot, there is also a creation by the Valorisation Martinique team, representing an endemic bird of the island: the White-throated Mockingbird. Ideally placed, this spot is perfect for taking photos of the landscape, admiring it, and also presenting yourself in a lush setting.
Marigot Cove
Marigot Cove is one of the most famous viewpoints on the island.
Located on the heights of the town of Le Carbet, perched on a cliff between the sea and agricultural plots, it is nevertheless very easily accessible as it is situated along the main road leading to the town.
This viewpoint offers a 360° panorama of the Caribbean Sea. On clear days, you can catch a glimpse of Saint Lucia to the south of the island, of course, the imposing silhouette of Mount Pelée to the north, and a few passing cruise ships in the distance.
Furthermore, from this spot, you can also admire the most beautiful sunsets, renowned to be the most stunning on the island.
Moreover, this place of great beauty welcomed a few years ago a creation by the Martinique Valorisation team: a life-sized photo frame made with natural materials such as wood and leaves.
This creation, arousing the curiosity of both young and old, is a magnificent photo spot, allowing you to immortalize this moment of escape with family, alone, or with friends.

It's a spectacular volcanic islet situated opposite Morne Larcher to the southwest. With its distinctive pointed shape, it rises majestically from the Atlantic Ocean.
Diamond Rock is not only visually impressive, but it also carries a rich history. It was once a hideout for the English, who gave it the name "Diamond Rock," and played a significant role in Martinique's history.
Indeed, the English would take shelter there during their assaults in an attempt to seize Martinique from the French. The French considered it to be part of their fleet and the English had even set up a hospital, makeshift accommodations, and a few goats for sustenance.
Today, this site is protected and inaccessible as it serves as a refuge for numerous bird species as well as iguanas.
However, it's possible to admire it from a distance thanks to the viewpoint of the same name located on the slopes of Morne Larcher. Accessible by both car and foot, it offers a wide panorama of the rock as well as the town of Le Diamant and its surroundings. Tables with detailed history about life on the rock and its significance are also available to visitors.

For our last featured viewpoint, let's head to the southwest of the island. Nature and sports enthusiasts, get ready!
Cape Salomon is located in the town of Les Anses-d'Arlet, bordered by the Caribbean Sea, known for its crystalline waters harboring diverse marine life. To reach this viewpoint, you'll need to hike for a little over an hour and a half, through the forest and along the coastline.

Explanation panels are set up along the path, providing details about the currently traversed area, such as the ruins of the former Military Battery.
Moreover, for diving enthusiasts, a part of the hike can be dedicated to snorkeling. A passage to the sea has been created, giving direct access to the water and allowing people to continue their exploration using buoys that have been installed in the water for this purpose.
Finally, once you've completed the loop, you can admire, from the top of the hill, a sweeping view of the Grande Anse of Les Anses-d'Arlet!
As the name suggests, it's a large expanse of crystalline water protected by a chain of small mountains bordering this traditional fishing village, which was voted the 2nd favorite village of the French people in 2020.
