The underwater path of Cape Solomon to be discovered at Anses-d’Arlet, on the south Caribbean coast of Martinique.
The underwater trail of Cap Salomon: a paradise for diving enthusiasts.
In 2014, the municipality of Les Anses-d'Arlet decided to create an underwater trail in the turquoise waters of Cap Salomon.
The trail is easily distinguishable by white buoys that will guide you throughout the course. On each buoy, thematic panels provide information about the species that can be observed in the area. These educational buoys also remind you of the rules to follow along the trail. For example, never touch your surroundings and do not attempt to touch or disturb sea turtles.
No need to worry, navigation is prohibited within the entire perimeter of the underwater trail, so you should be able to swim and enjoy the underwater scenery undisturbed.
Well-preserved, the Cap Salomon underwater trail is a paradise for snorkeling and snorkel diving enthusiasts. From the first meters, equipped with your mask and snorkel, you can observe colorful corals, sea fans, sponges, tropical fish, turtles, shells, and more.
The underwater biodiversity of the Cap Salomon trail is rich, diverse, and colorful.
It is recommended to be a good swimmer for this activity, as swimming is not supervised. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Make sure to check the weather conditions beforehand to avoid disappointment with underwater visibility (after heavy rains, for example, the water may become cloudy).
How to get to the Cap Salomon underwater trail?
To reach the Cap Salomon underwater trail, head south in the direction of Southern Martinique on Route D7, following signs for Les Trois Ilets. Once you reach the town of Les Trois-Îlets, continue towards Anse à l’Âne. The road is quite winding, so please drive carefully, especially if it's dark on your return journey.
Follow the signs to Grande Anse. Head towards the Ti Sable restaurant, where you can park your car in the parking lot on your right. At the restaurant, follow the path that goes up on the right. Continue straight until you reach a wooden staircase and an information sign. Do not take the hiking trail, but instead, take the trail on your left, which will lead you to the underwater trail in less than 15 minutes.
Regarding traffic, you shouldn't encounter too many problems. If you're coming from the north, north-south traffic flows fairly smoothly during the day. Just avoid taking the road during the rush hour, starting from 3 PM.
What to do around the Cap Salomon underwater trail?
The Cap Salomon underwater trail is located within the Cap Salomon hiking trail. This hike is relatively easy and accessible to all. It covers a distance of 3 kilometers, and you should plan on spending between 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete the loop.
This hike will allow you to discover various landscapes of Martinique, including forests, mangroves, the Caribbean Sea, and old military ruins.
We recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes, bringing enough water, and, of course, not forgetting sunscreen.
After your underwater hike, you'll likely feel hungry. Fortunately, Grande Anse is home to many small restaurants and beach bars. Among them are L’Amandier des Îles, Ti Sable, and Ti Payot'. You're sure to find something that suits your tastes.
The advantage of the town of Les Anses-d'Arlet is that it has many beautiful beaches where you can relax. Anse Noire, Anse Dufour, Petite Anse, Grande Anse—you have plenty of options to choose from.
