Savanna Park Martinique: A Memorial Site

Under the reign of Louis-Philippe (1830 – 1848), the military purpose of the park faded, and it transformed into a vast space redeveloped with numerous plantations from the island and other Caribbean territories. This significant commemorative site has indeed been the venue for major gatherings. This was the case in 1870 when Napoleon III's army departed for the Mexican War, or in 1914 when young Martinican conscripts gathered before heading to the front. The Savanna also reunited its population for the Tricentennial of colonization in 1935 and during General de Gaulle's visit in 1965.

Savanna Park: A 5-Hectare Place to Relax

From the end of World War II in 1945, La Savane became popular and became the venue for various sports and cultural events. Citizens appreciate this pleasant space enhanced by tropical vegetation planted over time. They come here to find freshness and relaxation under royal palm trees, fig trees, or bougainvilleas.

La Savane has added kiosks that offer a culinary break to walkers; you can buy ice cream, sweets, and drinks there. Furthermore, if you're looking for a Martinican gourmet meal, the place is lined with numerous restaurants.

This exceptional place is highly recommended for families with young children. You'll enjoy strolling in this exotic and fragrant place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
