Ilet Madame Martinique: An Exceptional Visit

A destination not to be missed during a stay on the island of flowers, this spot, less than a nautical mile from the coast, is part of the archipelago of Le Robert. The commune facing it, which shares its name, is the third most important in Martinique.

Bathed by the Atlantic, it offers an exceptional coastline. An 8 km long bay presents a paradisiacal setting with turquoise waters that hint at a stunning underwater fauna. The Admiral Robert, who resisted during World War II, honors this commune with his name.

Ilet Madame Le Robert: When Madame Liked to Stroll in a Sheltered Cove

As for this islet, it's named after Madame Du Parquet, the wife of Martinique's Governor Jacques du Parquet from 1636-1646 and 1647-1685. Swimming was not yet popular, but she appreciated the tranquility of the place and liked to rest there in the 1650s.

Today, it's quite surrounded as it is the most visited islet in Martinique within the commune of Le Robert. Simply because its sandy cove is truly ideal for swimming.

Thus, during public holidays and vacations, more than 250 to 300 people come to enjoy the islet. With an average attendance of 150 people per day, one could say that Madame is well surrounded.

Among pleasure boaters, with 10 boats that can dock at its pontoon or canoes that come ashore, many want to relax and dive into this exceptional corner. More authentic and discreetly, fishermen come to clean the hull of their yole in the evenings.
