Distillery A1710 is located in Martinique, at Habitation du Simon in François. It has a history that blends cultural richness and the tradition of agricole rum. Founded by Yves Assier de Pompignan, a rum enthusiast, this place is relatively new compared to the other historic distilleries on the island. In fact, it was founded in the 2010s. The name A1710 (pronounced "A seventeen ten") comes from the year when Martinique became French under Louis XIV. Its goal? To compete with the greatest and become a reference in the world of rum. Let's focus on this distillery with big ambitions !

History of Distillery A1710

A1710 is a small distillery, rare in its kind, that focuses on producing rum of very high quality rather than on volume. Therefore, there is less quantity of rum than in a typical distillery, but the production is the result of a meticulous process. In keeping with the traditional Martinique production methods, A1710 produces agricole rum, made from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses. This process gives the rum a distinct richness and aromatic complexity. Its charm in distilling lies in the fact that it uses a copper still, named "La Belle Aline," a respectful nod to the traditional stills used in the production of cognac in France. This makes its taste pure, as it removes sulfurs, but also complex. The distillery also explores various types of yeasts, barrels, and aging techniques to create unique rums that are smooth and rich in flavor.

Distillery A1710 is known and recognized for its quality and innovation in the world of rum. It regularly attracts the attention of rum enthusiasts and critics worldwide. By blending tradition and innovation to create exceptional rums, it has received numerous awards and distinctions for the quality of its rums, including gold medals at international competitions such as the Martinique Rum Award 2019, the Drinks Business & Spirits Business Autumn Tasting 2022, and Luxury Master 2022, particularly for its Diamond Rock pure sugarcane white rum.
