Anba So: A Waterfall within the Town

The starting point for the short hike leading to the 'Anba So' waterfall, which means 'under the waterfall,' is just a 5-minute walk from the Fond Lahaye village. In 2014, the ONF (National Forestry Office) renovated the trail that hikers must traverse for about twenty minutes before reaching the touch of the waterfall.

The water flow here is not as robust as that of the Saut du Gendarme waterfall, and the basin does not allow for diving.

Hiking to the Anba So Waterfall

This level 1 hike offers a pleasant forest walk close to the most central and urbanized areas. It is accessible to both adults and children, who will be delighted to discover the tropical flora. Encounters with a fer-de-lance snake are possible, but these animals blend into their environment. You may also come across a 'matoutou falaise,' an endemic animal of Martinique.

From the informative signboard along the route, you'll wander through the forest for about 45 minutes before arriving at the twenty-meter-high waterfall. Traverse the roots and enjoy the surrounding vegetation, including mahogany trees, heliconias, or spice trees.

Remember to wear sturdy shoes and bring a bottle of water with you.

The relatively flat terrain makes this hike suitable for families or individuals who are not very athletic."
