Cap Est Martinique: A Postcard-Perfect Image
The rural municipality of Le François faces 8 islets that can be reached by boat. There, you'll discover the "fonds blancs," a natural gem of Martinique, remote beaches where the white sand surfaces above the water. In this safe space for children, warmed by the radiant Caribbean sun, you'll swim in an ocean without waves, amidst hues ranging from pastel blue to emerald.
Later, you can bathe in the baignoire de Joséphine, where it is said that the famous Joséphine de Beauharnais, who became Empress of France through her marriage to Napoleon Bonaparte, would have luxuriated.
The Clément house, the soul and history of Martinique
The residence of the Clément family until 1986, perfectly restored and fully furnished, offers a faithful representation of an 18th century agricultural estate. Raised on the highest point, its traditional architecture overlooks a 160-hectare park.
The ground floor houses the living room, which over the years has been extended by a floor with side galleries perfectly adapted to the West Indian climate. Opening onto a shaded courtyard, the extension of the house gives access to the outbuildings, stable, kitchen and carriage house.
After visiting the park, you will arrive at the distillery built in 1917 by the sugar cane field. In the four cellars open to the public, you will discover the rum-making techniques for an immersion in the ancestral know-how of Martinique .
