The Fort-de-France market
Located in the heart of the island's capital, the Grand Market of Fort-de-France, also known as the "spice market," is the largest and undoubtedly the most lively on the island. It is well-known and recognized for generations for its vibrant colors, the diversity of its stalls, and the quality of the products offered: seasonal fruits and vegetables, a variety of delicious spices, as well as handcrafted madras items, art objects, jewelry, and souvenirs of all kinds. This market is a perfect blend of culture, history, and commerce. You can also taste local dishes such as accras, pâtés, sugarcane juice, or coconut water.
It is open every day from 6 AM to 4 PM, except on Sundays when it is closed.
Not far away, you can visit the Schoelcher Library, the Cathedral, or go shopping in the many downtown stores.
The Diamant market
The Diamant Market, located in the southern part of the island, is located right in front of the beach. The Anses d’Arlet market
