URBANISM

Member of the agglomeration community Espace Sud, Sainte-Luce is accessible by public transport thanks to the Sud Lib network from the center of the island or from other municipalities in the South.

National Road 5 connects the town of Sainte-Luce from Marin or Fort-de-France.

This axis that separates the municipality into two north-south parts shows that it has a denser urbanization in the south, while in the north it is more diffuse.

To get to Sainte-Luce it is also possible to take the departmental road 7.

GEOGRAPHIE

Sainte-Luce is 28.02 km² for 9,991 inhabitants called the Lucéens.

Southern commune of Martinique, it is surrounded by the Diamant to the west, Rivière-Salée to the north and Rivière-Pilote to the east.

Its south side is bordered by the Caribbean Sea. This 8 km long coastline is marked by numerous rocky promontories (Pimantée, Phillipeau, Fusette, ?) and some sandy coral coves such as Gros-Raisin, Mabouya, Corps de Garde, Pont Café among others.

The municipality benefits from two distinct reliefs. To the west, it is relatively flat, while the rest of the municipality benefits from a more mountainous relief with the Prefontaine and d’Orient mornes, Caraïbe etc.

IN SUMMARY

due to the problem of paid parking, lack of free spaces in the morning, high prices, not to mention the financial consequences of Covid and the suspension of a large part of the Martinique economy, the capital is losing its commercial attractiveness.

Despite the closure of many stores in the city centre, Fort-de-France remains the central point for many Martinicans in terms of economy, administration, culture, entertainment, business and tourism.

An example, the construction of the Pointe Simon business center, not far from the mouth of the Madame River, is not insignificant. On nearly 15 hectares, this center consists of:

  • A 20-story tower, the Lumina Tower, intended for offices, including Martinique 1ère;
  • A 7-story building housing offices, shops and the business hotel, the Simon ;
  • An 8-story building dedicated to business tourism.

The Capital Business Center should expand with the creation of a 24,000 square meter urban complex and a shopping mall called Fort-de-France antan lontan, near the Malecon and parc de la Savane, as an extension of the waterfront development.
