History of the Municipality of Case-Pilote
Case-Pilote is one of the oldest colonized places in Martinique.
Formerly a place of life for the Caribs, this small village was gradually conquered by the colonists.
Upon their arrival, one of the Caribbean chiefs, Pilote, to whom the village owes its name, welcomed them and allowed them to settle on their land as well as in Rivière-Pilote.
Gradually taking their ease, the colonists built a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary from 1640 to 1645.
Slavery also prevailed in this commune, to the point that in 1660, the slaves were more numerous than the other inhabitants.
On June 12, 1837, the village was erected into a commune thanks to a decree and the boundaries were drawn. Is there or not ?
