HISTORY of the municipality of AJOUPA BOUILLON
Originally, Ajoupa-Bouillon was a hamlet dependent on Basse-Pointe, but more particularly on the Northern municipality formed by this latter and Macouba.
A first attempt had already been made in 1837 by the place-name in order to become a municipality. In vain, until January 11, 1889, when Ajoupa-Bouillon obtained its independence and changed its political status.

The municipality takes its name from an old colonist, Duke Jean Gobert de Bouillon, who had built an ajoupa (small Caribbean hut) at the entrance of the latter.
Marking a landmark for passers-by, it was thus nicknamed.
URBANISM
The municipality of 1,787 inhabitants is crossed by the national 3 from Saint-Pierre to Lorrain.
Ajoupa-Bouillon is also a member of the Cap Nord agglomeration community.

Ajoupa-Bouillon is a 12.30 km² commune located at altitude.
The relatively humid climate favors l’agriculture within the commune.
Located at the junction of the North Atlantic and Caribbean, the commune is almost a mandatory passage to get to the other side of the island.
POLITICS
A town loyal to its political party
Maurice Bonté, former school director, general councilor and vice-president of the general council is the mayor of the commune since 1995 !
Youth
Ajoupa-Bouillon has a nursery school and an elementary school to welcome children in the town.
Once they are older, they go to the colleges and high schools in the neighboring towns.
